With the right support network, I believe you can live a sustained healthy life

A question that is often put to me is why people struggle with weight loss when we’ve been taught, through internet, TV and magazines, that it’s very easy to lose weight. Simply eat less, exercise and when you reach your desired weight the problem is over. In the short term this is often achievable, but the long term reality is far different. Less than 1% of people who reach their natural weight struggle to keep their weight off after 18 months.
We are taught that this struggle is due to being “weak willed” and “lazy” but I believe the root of the problem lies much deeper than that. Education with food, socio-economic background, childhood experiences, mental health and triggers for certain types of food all have an impact on how we lose weight. Empathy and understanding of these key issues are critical factors in achieving long term weight loss.
With the right support network, I believe you can live a sustained healthy life:
Free from urges for unhealthy snacks.
Enjoying food and counting nutrients not calories.
Making exercise a happy part of your life. Not a chore.
